RECEIVER PERFORMANCE EVOLUTION

This section depicts the improvements in receiver performance over the past 50 year.  It is not a technical explanation of the technology but rather a focus on milestones that enabled the improvements.

Although the ranking in the list of receivers and transceivers is based on their 3rd order Dynamic Range (DR3), specifically, the "close-in" spec, measured with 2 kHz separation of the two injected signals.

There are other important factors which also affect a receiver's performance such as Reciprocal Mixing Dynamic Range (RMDR), a metric introduced to the ARRL's testing in 2013, and Blocking Gain Compression Dynamic Range

Rob Sherwood soon began measuring RMDR in his transceiver testing and lists it in his long review of each radio tested.  However, it is not shown on his popular
Receiver Test Data list.
